DoD’s Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) and Space Test Program (STP) recently announced that the ORS-3 Minotaur I launch of the STPSat-3 Mission is now confirmed for November 19, 2013 from NASA’s Wallops Island, VA. This launch includes the maiden voyage for flight demonstrating MMA’s dragNET De-orbit System aboard both the Minotaur I upper stage as well as the STPSat-3 spacecraft.
MMA’s dragNET De-orbit System launched into Space from Wallops Island aboard the ORS-3 Mission on November 19, 2013 on a beautiful, cool moonlit night. Soon after liftoff and separation, MMA’s dragNet will deploy and start de-orbiting the Minotaur I upper stage. MMA’s dragNet will also de-orbit the mission’s primary payload, STPSat-3 spacecraft, after its 2-3 year mission life.
MMA Design moved into their new 10,000 sq. ft. engineering and manufacturing facility on February 15. Check out pics of the new space on our Capabilities page.
MMA has also launched a new and completely revamped website as of March 11, complete with products, capabilities, employment opportunities, and more about the team. We hope you like it as much as we do.
MMA Design will be attending the 31st Annual Space Power Workshop sponsored by The Aerospace Corporation in Manhattan Beach, California on April 22-25, 2013.
On October 25, 2012, MMA selected Tiger Innovations to develop and deliver the De-orbit Power Electronics (DPE) for powering our dragNET De-orbit System.
On October 10, 2012, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) awarded MMA Design an enhancement contract for a second flight dragNET De-orbit System delivery to flight demonstrate the de-orbiting of the Minotaur I upper stage on a 2013 launch.
On October 5, 2012, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and Operational Responsive Space (ORS) selected MMA’s HaWK Solar Array for the ORS2 Flight Demonstration Mission planned for launch in 2013!
On August 26, 2012 USAFA and MMA successfully completed a zero-g flight test of the FalconSat-7 deployment system.
