To increase capacity and capability for our deployable systems programs, MMA has moved to a new facility in Louisville, Colorado! Our new headquarters houses our current team and allows ample space for our ever-growing deployable systems. MMA has expanded from our prior 10,000 ft² facility in Boulder to a 20,000 ft² facility and increases our capabilities in engineering, R&D, production, assembly, and testing.
In August, we announced that MMA’s HaWK solar arrays had launched with JPL’s ASTERIA cubesat aboard a SpaceX Dragon 9 with the 12th resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS). On November 21, 2017, the ASTERIA cubesat was dispensed from ISS. Our HaWK solar arrays have since successfully deployed in space and are powering the mission! Based on early mission reports, the HaWK is performing well.
The ASTERIA — or Arcsecond Space Telescope Enabling Research in Astrophysics — mission aims to test whether a CubeSat is able to perform precise measurements of change in a star’s light. This has many useful applications, including the discovery and study of more distant planets outside of our solar system.
Another exciting launch this morning — this time JPL’s ASTERIA CubeSat which caught a ride on the SpaceX Falcon-9 Crew Resupply Services 12th mission. ASTERIA is headed for the International Space Station where it will be launched in October 2017 via the Nanoracks Cubesat Deployer beginning its 90-day technology demonstration mission.
To celebrate our participation in the 2017 SmallSat conference in Logan, Utah, we are excited to announce our POST IT, WEAR IT, WIN A TRIP contest! Here’s how it works:
Between now and August 8, POST this to your Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn network:
@MMADesignLLC is #HugeInSpace at #SmallSat
Come see us at the conference on Tuesday at Fieldhouse Booth 166 and SHOW US YOUR POST to get your free T-shirt
WEAR your T-shirt to the conference on Wednesday, August 9, and come by the booth to officially enter for a chance to WIN airfare and hotel for 4-5 days in Mexico or the Dominican Republic!
T-shirts are first come, first served. We have a limited quantity (150) for increased odds of winning and T-shirts must be worn in order to enter the contest. Winner will be selected at random on Thursday, August 10, 2017. You do not need to be present at the conference at that time to win. MMA will contact you if you are the lucky winner so you can select where you want to go and when. Destination and departure dates are subject to availability.
MMA is pleased to be invited to participate in ASU’s School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE) and Interplanetary Initiative’s inaugural Space Hardware & Software Working Session on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Arizona at ASU’s Tempe campus.
ASU recognizes that the future of human and robotic space exploration relies on developing new technologies, systems, and capabilities, made more efficient through public-private partnerships. MMA will be there to share our capabilities and offerings, identify partnership opportunities with other companies and groups attending, and discuss future joint proposals, pilot projects and problem-solving capstone courses.
MMA’s solar array — a HaWK™ powering the AFRL SHARC mission — launched this morning aboard the Orbital ATK Cygnus spacecraft out of Cape Canaveral’s Air Force Station in Florida.
The mission, launched on a ULA Atlas V Rocket, is resupplying the International Space Station with more than 7,600 pounds of cargo to support several new and existing science investigations, as well as bringing much needed crew supplies and space station equipment. Alongside this cargo is a fleet of 38 CubeSats, including AFRL’s SHARC, which will be launched from the NanoRacks CubeSat Deployment System on ISS.
Learn more about the Resupply Mission cargo in this video.
On Tuesday, April 4 at 4 pm, please come by the booth and help us celebrate our 10th Anniversary! We will be pouring cold, delicious Colorado craft beers, handing out swag and raffling off some cool prizes. Hope to see you there!
MMA was recently accepted to display a poster on our flight solar array and will be attending the 10th Annual CubeSat Developers Workshop at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA from April 24-26.
